Stitches, stitches everywhere
In a wierd twist of irony, Caleb got his stitches out today and my friend Lori got her stitches put in. Many of you know Lori. We have been friends for over 11 years and I was in her wedding last year. She and her husband are expecting a baby this December. She has a small cervix due to some irregular cells in the past. Because of this they had to put in stitches to (hopefully) prevent her from going in to labor too soon. (It’s hard work being a woman!) I encouraged her to start her own blog so her family and friends can follow her progress. You can find her at http://lorifamily.blogspot.com. Wish her well and keep her in your prayers for the next few months.
Caleb’s stitches removal went really well today. He was a little ansy in the waiting room because they were taking so long and he was tired, but he really handled it well as Dr. Emery tugged and pulled the stitches out. He did not like the nurse holding down his head. Nor me holding his arms with my arm across chest. Or Grandma Cathy holding on to his feet. But he didn’t move around that much. He did holler “STOP” quite a few times and “go away.” Taking the stitches out didn’t look painful; at least I couldn’t see it in his eyes and he wasn’t saying ouch. But when Dr. Emery removed the scab you could tell that hurt a little. I felt so bad for him, but he didn’t shed any tears (and either did I). It only took about three minutes. I am so proud of my little boy. He has been through a lot in just two short years and he handles it so well. Once the stitches were out he didn’t complain about it at all. And last week when he had the surgery, he was back to his old self by that night. He keeps his beautiful (sorry Lee..handsome) smile on his face all the time. He really is a trooper and I thank God I have him in my life. He is such an inspiration. Thanks everybody, for your warm wishes and prayers. It gives us warm fuzzies to know that we have so many friends and family that care so much about us. You are all the greatest!
