Pizza Catastrophe

First of all, if you haven’t read Lori’s “Pizza Hut from Hell” post on her website you need to. She has a great story about a local Pizza Hut.

Apparently we didn’t learn from that post, because we ordered from there on Friday night. We decided to try their new “rip it and dip it” pizzas. Those are the ones that have breadsticks baked right on to the pizza (it’s part of the crust). We got two large pizzas; one pepperoni and mushroom and one canadian bacon and pineapple.

The pizza arrived and Lee opened them up. He immediately noticed the canadian bacon and pineapple pizza is half canadian bacon and half pineapple. What??? Who wants a pineapple pizza? Personally I don’t even like it with canadian bacon either, but the kids dig it. But just pineapple baked in to the cheese and tomato sauce. What’s that all about? So I opened the other one and [you guessed it...] it’s half pepperoni and half mushroom. Plus to top it off we never got our dipping sauces. How are we supposed to “rip and dip” with no dipping sauce?

So Lee called Pizza Hut to complain. They told him that the “rip and dip” pizzas only come with one topping. And they were trying to save us money so we wouldn’t have to pay more then the $10.99 per pizza. Umm….hmmm….since when do businesses try and save you money? Isn’t their goal to make money? Maybe that’s why I’m not an entrepreneur. Cause I don’t understand big business. And why did they just make our pizza decision for us? Why assume? Lee always says, “Never assume. It just makes an a$$ out of U and me.” Were they scared of us? Did they think we would yell at them if they tried to charge us extra for extra toppings? Has anybody ever ordered a pineapple pizza before?? Or are we just incapable of making such an important decision? Hmm…do I just want a pineapple pizza or do I want to pay the extra $.50 for an additional topping. Oh these hard decision. My brain can’t take it. Or, hold yourself back for this phenomenal thought, maybe if they had mentioned we could only get one topping we would have just gotten canadian bacon. Phew…my brain hurts after coming up with that out-there-in-left-field thought.

Then Lee asked about the dipping sauces. The girl apologized for the sauce. Lee said “Is there anybody coming out this way? We are only a few blocks away.” And the girl had the nerve to ask Lee if he could just come pick them up. Let’s see…you screwed up the pizza [you gave us a pineapple pizza...must I continually repeat myself???], you forgot our sauces, you are not offering us a credit or anything and you want us to come pick up sauces for your big BLEEPING screw up. Um NO! Lee said “No, that’s why I ordered it for delivery. So I wouldn’t have to drive down and get it.” So she apologized again and Lee hung up the phone.

HUNG UP THE PHONE??? What the H-E-double hockey sticks (haven’t heard that since you were little, have ya?) She is so lucky she wasn’t talking to me on the phone. Lee actually hung up the phone with no solution to our pineapple pizza, no sauce for dipping, drive down to get them pizza problem. He just accepted her apology and called it a day. Gawd, Lee is way to nice. Now me on the other hand…it happened yesterday and I’m still ranting and raving about it. I have half a mind to write a stongly worded letter.

Ok, I swear I am never eating at Pizza Hut again. They are ridiculous! I have to go walk off some of this pent up anger on the treadmill. Be talkin’ to ya.

Quote of the Day

I wasn’t going to do it, but I can’t hold it in any longer. I have to post about Big Brother. I have to admit I am a huge Big Brother fan, love it, tape it when I’m not home, scream at my TV, Big Brother fan. If there was a support group I’d have to sign up for it

So anyway, back to the quote. Apparently Jase likes Brad Pitt. And not just likes, but loves…is obsessed with…would pick Brad over Jennifer Aniston…likes Brad Pitt. He was talking last week about just finding women to buy him things and stuff like his own little “sugar mammas” so I’m starting to wonder if he really digs the girls or not [although we have seen him kiss Holly...EWWW!]. So tonight all of the houseguests were talking about Jase’s infatuation with Brad Pitt and Marvin said, “Brad Pitt should sue his a$$ for slander every time he says he looks like Brad. You look like a damn armpit.” And it doesn’t stop there. Then Will said, “He doesn’t look any more like Brad Pitt than my Uncle Larry’s rear end.” I was rolling on the floor laughing. Ok, maybe not rolling on the floor, but I did laugh out loud. If I had been drinking at the time, I would have spit out my water. That made the whole show.

And just when I thought that was as good as it was going to get, we got to the veto competition. In this competition each of them had to answer a question and the others had to decide if they were bluffing or telling the truth. It was Jase’s turn to stand up and answer a question. It was something like “who does he confide in the most?” and Jase said his step-father. I don’t even know if he was bluffing or telling the truth because I was laughing to hard at Scott. Scott goes “Jase really threw me off because I didn’t know what ‘confide’ meant.” What??? How dumb are you?? Somebody buy that boy a dictionary. Although that probably wouldn’t make a difference because he probably can’t read.

Heck, for a few seconds tonight I thought I was watching Last Comic Standing instead of Big Brother. Speaking of that I need to go watch my tape of Last Comic Standing. But don’t worry. I’m sure this will not be my last post about BB5. I’ll keep you up-to-date. Be talkin’ to ya.

Worn Out Part 2

I’m really in to sequels to my posts these days. My brain is just running a mile a minute and I forget things. I was so worn out this weekend, I completely forgot I took the kids (minus Keaton since he was at Planet X with Grandma Cathy) to the splash pad on Friday. It’s the first trip we’ve made to the splash pad this year. We are really slacking. It was actually pretty chilly out so first we played on the playground equipment for quite a while. I pushed the kids on the swing, swung them around on the merry-go-round and helped them across the rings (you know those rings that hang and you are supposed to use alternating hands to pull yourself across). The splash pad didn’t have any water coming out of it because nobody had been on it recently. I was fine with that because I was hoping the kids would just think it wasn’t working. I was worried it was too cold out for them to run around wet. But then some kids showed up and started the splash pad. So Skyler, Spencer and Caleb took off for it. They had a great time even though it was chilly out. The water had to be freezing cold. But the kids didn’t seem to care.

Worn Out

Wow this was a busy weekend. I need a vacation from my weekend. I’m exhausted.

On the softball front…It was Districts weekend and, of course, Lee and the rest of his Checkers team played. I was a little worried. I’m not sure how they did on their Sunday night league, but they didn’t win a single game on their Monday night league. He played on Friday and they lost. But they played against a very good team (according to Lee). So they had to play again on Saturday morning. And they won. So they played at 4:45pm. And they won again. So they are going to state. Woo Hoo. Be sure to congratulate Lee! They won another game at 6:15. Then they played their final game at 7:30pm, but they lost that game. So they didn’t win Districts, but they are going to State. That’s all that matters. It must of been their new red jerseys. They played in their white jerseys all year long and for Districts they broke out some new awesome red jerseys. I guess they were on fire (ha ha).

Friday night was also Keaton’s Cub Scout Overnight at the Ballpark. So he got to enjoy the Kernels game and spend the night on the field. This was Keaton’s first time camping and he had a blast. He and I went to the game together; ate some pizza and cotton candy (YUMMY!). Then when Lee’s softball game was over he joined us at the Kernels game. It was in the middle of the seventh inning when Lee got there, but at least he got to see the end of the game. It was chilly out on Friday night so I was a little worried about them sleeping on the field out there. But they had sweatshirts and their sleeping bags so they were fine. I’m just a big wimp I guess. I know I would have been shivering all night long. They got to watch the movie Sandlot on the big screen. You know the big screen where they do the kissing cam and close up with the players and all that stuff. Keaton said it was awesome. When they got home on Saturday around 7am, Lee told me he was going to run back out with his camera. He said standing up at the top looking down at all those tents was an awesome sight. But when he got back to the stadium most of the tents were already down and people were gone. So we don’t have any good pictures. But he got a few shots of those that were still there. I guess we’ll have to go out and buy a tent now. (He borrowed a tent from his Patrol leader for this event.) I’ll have to add it to his wishlist.

Then on Saturday we were going to go to the Animal Planet Expo. Did any of you go to that? It was advertised all over TLC for well over a month. It was probably advertised on the Animal Planet channel too (would be my guess…but we don’t really watch that). And it was free. So I think everybody in town decided to go. It was packed. We started to drive up 6th Street and we could see people parking on 33rd Avenue. That’s a pretty hefty walk to Hawkeye Downs. So I was getting a little concerned. The traffic was backed up to 33rd Avenue too. I thought it was just because of the road construction (you know this is the season of construction…we have to have construction on every single road all summer long), but it wasn’t the road construction. It was people trying to get to the Expo. Ten minutes later when we actually got up to Hawkeye Downs I saw all the people. Oh my gosh, I don’t think I’ve seen so many people packed in to one place in my life. It was crazy. I was worried for the safety of my children if we went. One of them could of slipped away and never been found again. So we skipped that and just went to the playground at Keaton’s school. It was much calmer and the kids had a lot of fun.

We found ourselves at a BBQ at my friend’s house on Saturday night. The kids loved it. Especially Skyler because my friend Stacy has a little girl (Britnee) who is around six and Misti has a little girl (Amber) who is only a month younger then Skyler. She loved having these little girl friends to play with. She didn’t want to leave. And she’s already talking about getting together with them again. I hope Stacy and Tim’s house survived all those kids though. I think the kids brought out every toy to play with. And the big boys got a little wild at one point. But that all had a blast.

By Sunday I was about to pass out from exhaustion. I stayed in bed until 1pm. It felt so good to sleep the day away. Of course, that pile of dirty laundry in my laundry room would beg to differ (as would the kids as they are searching for some clean clothes to wear). But I felt good after 12 glorious hours of slumber. Vacation Bible School started this Sunday. We go at night from 6 to 8:30. They feed us and we play some games, make some crafts and sing some songs. It’s a lot of fun. Skyler even got up and was singing on the microphone. She has no fear. She is so cute. We go back tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday night. It should be a lot of fun. And we are meeting some new people. So it’s a good time.

I hope all of you survived your weekend too. I’m worn out and I’m going to take a nap!
