Bush Using McCain’s Brain
I’m confused. Why is Bush planning legal action on the Swift Vote for Veterans ads? And why does he need Sen. John McCain to tell him to do it?
Don’t get me wrong. I think those ads are ridiculous and there has been way to much press about them. And I have a special bond with Sen. John McCain (even though he is a republican…everybody has their flaws, Senator) because we both have a child born with a cleft. However, these ads have been on the air for over a month and Bush didn’t seem to care two squats of shit about them. But as soon as Kerry let everybody know that, although the Swift Vets are not technically endorsed by President Bush, they are backed big time by some republicans in Texas, all of a sudden Bush cares. And now after he’s pretty positive everybody has already heard the ads or at least the news coverage about the ads, he has asked them to pull their ads. Hmm….
Shouldn’t it be Kerry seeking legal action for slander or something to that effect? What’s Bush’s beef with the ads? Isn’t it protected under the Free Speech Laws of America? Oh that’s right, Bush doesn’t care about the Free Speech Laws, hence the Patriot’s Act [although to be fair they all voted that piece of crap in to law].
And now at Sen. McCain’s urging Bush is going to take legal action?!? Why? Why does he need Sen. McCain to tell him what to do? He’s the freaking President of the United States. Sen. McCain is only the Senator of Arizona [sorry Senator, don't mean to downplay your role, but there is an obvious difference in power there]. Just once I would like to see Bush come out with an idea that he actually thought up all by himself in his own little brain. And I don’t mean anything about his initiative and how he’s working on initiatives and we’ll see some outcomes from these initiatives [sorry...a little Fahrenheit 9/11 humor].

Speaking of freedom of speech and a free nation…what about the (2) teachers arrested at Bush’s visit to Noelridge Park last week for protesting and wearing Kerry buttons. Last I knew this was still a free country and we still had freedon of speech. I admit I don’t watch a lot of news but the way I understand it(ok what I heard) was they were asked to move and were then asking where they could stand and ended up being arrested. I suppose someone got “lippy” but you can’t tell me that doesn’t happen at other political stops or events. I remember seeing (on the news) quite a few protestors at Bush’s Kirkwood visit but don’t recall any of them being arrested.
