More Prep Time for Cheney
USATODAY.com - Cheney error sends Net users off track
I’m betting the Bush camp is spending a little more time prepping Bush and Cheney for their second debates. Do they get notecards? Maybe they need to jot down correct URLs. Or even better, just leave websites out of the debate completely.
If you don’t know already, Cheney prodded viewers to view the “correct” information about his dealings while at Halliburton. He stated, “They know that if you go, for example, to FactCheck.com (sic), an independent Web site sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania, you can get the specific details with respect to Halliburton.” Well (1) the correct URL is actually FactCheck.org (not .com) and (2) FactCheck.org does not support either party, but instead is an impartial site trying to give us Americans the real facts rather the fabrications our candidates spit out on their tv commercials.
So first off, Cheney sent viewers to the wrong website. And the company who owns the domain name FactCheck.com redirected people to an anti-Bush site, GeorgeSoros.com. I’m sure that’s the exact opposite of what Cheney wanted.
I have had a link to FactCheck.org over there to the left for quite some time. The website is a great source for the truth. Did Kerry really miss all of those Senate meetings? What’s the true story behind the SwiftVets? Have we really spent all of that money on the war that Kerry claims we have? You can find the answers to these and more at FactCheck.org.
And in those truths, FactCheck.org points out that Edwards was “mostly right.” The FactCheck.org article states, “In fact, we did post an article pointing out that Cheney hasn’t profited personally while in office from Halliburton’s Iraq contracts, as falsely implied by a Kerry TV ad. But Edwards was talking about Cheney’s responsibility for earlier Halliburton troubles. And in fact, Edwards was mostly right.” I can’t imagine this insight is at all helping Cheney’s cause.
So my advice to Bush and Kerry on Friday night…just stick to the facts you know (or those that have been repeated to you over and over and over again via flashcards…Bush). Leave the websites out of it.
