Hawkeye Hell

As if it’s not bad enough that I have virtually no control over the big TV from September to January (at least not on Sunday’s or Monday nights…plus some Thursday nights), now the freaking affiliates are preempting programs for freaking Hawkeye games. I had to tape Joan of Arcadia a couple of weeks back because they aired it at 12:30am due to the basketball game. And this last Tuesday they preempted The Amazing Race because of a stupid basketball game.

And now tonight….oh tonight…I’m livid! On Channel 9 they are airing Capital One Bowl Pregame. Who gives a shit? And the people who do give a shit…they’ve been following the Hawkeyes all year and they don’t need this fucking recap. Plus, isn’t the game tomorrow. Put your fucking pregame on, hell I don’t know….pre-game. You know, as in just before the game starts….like tomorrow.

And guess what’s on CBS right now instead of Joan of Arcadia…the freaking St. Louis/Iowa basketball game. Come on people. Yes we are within a half an hour of the U of I. And, yes some of us even attended the UofI (or attempted in my case). But do we really need to watch every fucking basketball game? If we cared that much we would drive our lazy asses to IC and watch the fucking game in person. They are so lucky Joan is a repeat tonight or I would have to go all postal on their ass. I mean, isn’t it obvious I could use a little God tonight?

I’m seriously considering a strongly worded letter to the network. Bastards!

Insanity

I think there might actually be something wrong with us. We aren’t all there upstairs, if you know what I mean. Lee and I have decided to stay home tonight (on New Year’s Eve). Now that in itself isn’t that unusual. We have stayed home for the last five years or so. It’s just too hard to find a sitter and if you do find one she’s too expensive anyway. Plus all those crazies are out on the road and I don’t need any drunk weirdo ramming his $30,000 car in to my precious “new to me” minivan. [that statement was depressing]

So anyway….not only are we staying home, but we are having three of Keaton’s friends over for the night. So we will have a 12 year old, an 11 year old, two 10 year olds, two 5 year olds, and a two year…and one grumpy old man [that would be Lee]. This should be fun. I think we’re ready for it though. At the very least we have tons of chips, popcorn and soda. So they wont go hungry.

If we survive I’ll blog tomorrow and tell you how it went.

New Fishy Home

We got the tank all set up, so our fishies have a new home. And some new toys to play with and caves to hide in.

They are hilarious to watch. It’s like a child checking out their new room. They are swimming from one end the other, diving up and down and up and down. [Of course in this photo they are hiding...camera shy I guess.]

Now we have room to buy them some new friends. I guess we need to take a trip to the pet store.

Look’s like Jasper enjoys the new tank too!

Click on the photos to see them bigger.

When the cookie crumbles….

it’s officially over. Well now there’s no denying it. Christmas is definitely in the past. How do I know?
