It’s the Law
Keaton had baseball practice at 9:30 this morning. Lee dropped him off and then “went to work.” He’s been building computers for friends and friends of friends and friends of friends of friends. So if you are in need of a new, better, faster computer and don’t care about name brands, then Lee’s your man. If you need a repair or can’t figure out how to install your new DVD burner, then give Lee a call.
So anyway, I picked Keaton up from practice because the kids and I decided to go to Old MacDonald’s Farms Grand Opening. As Skyler, Spencer, Caleb and I were sitting in the car waiting for Keaton’s practice to end, a fight broke out between Caleb and Spencer. Spencer tried to steal Caleb’s Mutant Ninja Turtle sword and Caleb was angry. Screeching, ear piercing, mad. So then Caleb began to smack Spencer with the sword. So I made Spencer move to the back seat with Skyler.
Next things I know, a fight ensues between Skyler & Spencer. I don’t know what they were fighting about, but Spencer ended up biting Skyler. I told Skyler & Spencer that I was starting to rethink the zoo part of our day and maybe we should just go home and take naps. Spencer said, “No mom. I promise I won’t bite Skyler anymore.” And Skyler said, “It’s ok mom. It’s doesn’t really hurt.”
Finally, practice was over. [We only waited for Keaton for 20 minutes but it felt like 20 hours.] So we were on our way to the zoo. We weren’t even on the road for five minutes when Skyler & Spencer were playing around in the back and making a huge ruckus. Spencer was in the seat on the passenger’s side and Skyler was sitting in the middle. So I told Skyler to move over to the seat on the driver’s side to get her away from Spencer a little. But she wouldn’t move. Keaton told her, “Skyler you need to move over.” Skyler began to cry. Hysterically. Keaton said, “Skyler. Move!” Skyler hollered through tears, “I can’t. The car is moving.” Keaton told her to just undo her seat belt and move over. She yelled, “I can’t! It’s the law.” So I stiffled a giggle and told her I would pull over so she could move over. I pulled in to a parking lot and came to a complete stop before Skyler moved over and put her seatbelt back on. At least I know she is a good, law abiding citizen. And she actually listens to some things we say.
