Seventeenuplets

What do you call it when a woman gives birth to seventeen babies? Or in our case…a fish. We have new baby fish. Our Sailfin Mollie fish gave birth. We aren’t exactly sure when, but we noticed the little tykes just this week.

Have you ever seen baby fish? They are small. Microscopic almost. Half the size of a pencil eraser. Very, very small. Lee noticed them as he was about to pour new water in to the tank. It took me a while to spot them even when I was looking for them. They pretty much hang out near the top of the tank. I’d take a picture, but you wouldn’t be able to see them in it so why bother. But there is a picture on this website about halfway down the page.

The kids are pretty excited about the new babies. We had a little discussion about how the mommy and daddy fish got together and had babies. So they feel pretty well versed on the whole making babies process now. Now we are discussing names. But they all look exactly the same so far. Maybe when they get bigger we can tell them apart.
