Hiding Out
Skyler & Spencer were in bed by 8pm tonight. They have school in the morning so they have new earlier bedtimes. But Skyler’s never been much of a sleeper. Spencer needs a good 10 hours, but Skyler can get by on more like 7 or 8 hours. I don’t know how she does it.
Caleb does not go to bed early either. So we’ve been making him lay down on the couch after Skyler & Spencer go to bed. That way Spencer has some time to fall asleep on his own and then we can put Caleb to bed.
Tonight I was on the phone with my Aunt Candy when Caleb came upstairs and went in to Skyler’s room. It was about quarter to 9 at that point. I knew that Skyler was still awake because she kept peeking her head out of her room. And I kept yelling at her to get back in bed.
Before I could hang up the phone and get Caleb out of Skyler’s room, Caleb came walking out. He was holding on to his blanket and acting like he was just dragging it on the floor behind him as he headed to his room. Only something wasn’t right. The blanket wasn’t laying on the floor. Instead it was about two feet in the air.
Skyler was under the blanket. She and Caleb had cooked up this plan to sneak her in to his room. She was bending over under the blanket, but she was still too tall to “blend” in.
I have to give them credit for coming up with a pretty good plan. Unfortunately it wasn’t good enough ’cause they were busted. I yelled at her to get in bed…again. And I sent Caleb downstairs on the couch.
I’m amazed at how their minds work. They really are very bright. But I expect them to use their brains for good and not evil going forward.
