Kindergarten

Skyler & Spencer on their first day of kindergarten Today was Skyler & Spencer’s first day of school. I still cannot believe my babies are kindergarteners. But I’m so excited for them.

I got up with them in the morning to see them off [and make sure that Lee didn't dress Skyler in something that didn't match :)]. I snapped some photos of them too.

Spencer [who is so not a morning person...he takes after me there] was pretty grumpy. He was not at all happy that he had to be up by 7am. I was a little worried that he would keep up that grumpy attitude at school, but it sounds like he snapped out of it.

Skyler was very eager. She had a huge smile on her face the whole morning.

Lee took them to the bus stop and watched them get on the bus. He said they were the last kids to sit down because they wanted to sit together and the bus was pretty full. Finally a kid got up so they could sit together. That was so nice.

After a long day of school they came home so happy. I was working from home and Skyler immediately ran downstairs to tell me about her day. At Open House on Monday they colored gingerbread men. And today learned why. Skyler said the gingerbread man is missing. But he left clues all over the building. Even in the lunch room. Spencer told me that Ms. Howe’s class is the best kindergarten class. Skyler responded “Uhh…NO!” with all the attitude she could muster. Spencer said they went to Art. And the library. Both Skyler and Spencer brought home books from library and we read both of them before they went to bed.

Spencer was so exhausted from his big day that he fell asleep on the couch. And he was mad at me for waking him up. But Skyler…I swear that girl never sleeps. She didn’t take a nap and she was still awake after 10pm. I had to keep yelling at her to get back in bed. I don’t know how she has all that energy.

In any event, my babies are no longer babies. They are big kids now. Going to school every day. It’s so sad and yet so exciting all at the same time. And I can’t wait to hear about more of their new school days.

  1. Dallas Had Ms. Howe for 1st grade. Surprised to hear she went down to kindergarten this year. She is good!
