So Creative She Could Be on Martha Stewart’s Apprentice Only Not as Bitchy
Wow, I think that’s the longest title I’ve ever had.
So anyway, Skyler really has a flare for the creative. She loves to dance and draw and write and sing.
Ever since cheerleading camp she has been “cheering” all over the house. She remembers at least three of the cheers. Her favorite is…
One, we are the Hawks.
Two, a little bit louder.
Three, I still can’t hear you.
Four more, more, more.
She’s so cute with it. She’s got all the movements down. And she practices in the living room when she thinks nobody is looking.
And then whenever there is music on she shakes her booty. Tonight, the kids were watching Robots and there’s a bunch of music at the end. She was all shaking her groove thang across the living room. She loves to dance.
Later in the night she was in the shower. She has now mastered washing her own hair, so I don’t have to help her anymore. She had been in there quite a while. So I turned down the television to call in to her and then I could hear her. She was singing. And she’s not bad.
All day on Sunday, she was working on her story. And I mean all day. The only time she wasn’t working on it was when we went to church, to Keaton’s soccer game and when she ate dinner. She spent a lot of time on it. At school they have Writers Workshop. The kids can’t really write yet. They don’t know many words yet. But they make books anyway. And they are working on making a cover with a title and an illustration and their name. Then they write on each page and illustrate each page. I sent Skyler’s teacher an email letting her know how excited Skyler is about Writers Workshop and she wrote back with “I’m glad you are seeing her enjoyment of Writer’s Workshop! She is very serious about her writing and truly thinks of herself as a writer. I conferenced with her today during writing time and she could tell me every story she had written, even when it just looked like random letters. She is starting to write some common words in her books. This is our favorite time of the day!” She rocks.
Plus she is a fantastic artist. She draws awesome pictures in her books. You can tell exactly what she is writing about from her illustrations. On Saturday, she drew this great picture of a pirate ship. She asked me how to spell p-i-r-a-t-e - s-h-i-p so she could write it on the back of her picture. When she was done I took a look at it. It’s awesome. She has a big sword. And she even has somebody “walking the plank.” [That could be too much Spongebob.] Take a look at it for yourself.

She’s so talented. I’m so proud of her.
