Let that be a lesson to you

This morning Spencer made a very dramatic play at being sick.

“My tummy hurts.”

“It hurts really bad.”

“I think I might throw up.”

“Oooohhh. My tummy. It hurts.”

I finally gave in. “Fine. Go to bed then. That will make it feel better.”

Lee left to take the other kids to school. When he got back Spencer was on the couch watching TV.

Lee said, “You need to get in bed. You’re sick.”

Spencer said, “Actually I’m starting to feel better.”

About twenty, maybe thirty, minutes had passed at this point.

Sick my butt.

So, like we do with all of the kids, Spencer spent the whole day in bed. Because if you are sick then sleeping all day is what your body needs.

In school Spencer has homework this week. They read a story about a diary and from Monday through Thursday the kids are keeping their own diary.

Since I wasn’t home tonight I asked Lee to make sure Spencer wrote in his diary. When I got home I read what Spencer wrote:

I will nezru pretad to be sik agan. I was so bord in my room.

That’s what I’m talking about. Getting out my chalk and marking that one on the good parent taught you a lesson board. And just because I’m in a good mood, I’m going to split that mark 50/50 with Lee. ;)

  1. My kids learned that lesson right away too. My kids have to stay in bed all day too. And I’m really mean, they don’t get to watch cartoons either. They can watch CNN or golf or something boring like that. I’m with ya…if you’re so sick you need to be home, you need to rest. Nothing like a good 18 holes of golf to make one nod off…zzzzz.
