Traveling
I just realized I totally left you hanging on Justis’ Washington D.C. trip. How was it you ask?
Well….I was a basketcase. Thanks for asking.
Oh, you mean how was it for Justis? He had a great time. He loved being “on his own” and staying up late and hanging out with his friends….oh and seeing the sights. He took around 175 pictures. He’s a boy after my own heart. He gets that fanatic picture taking habit from me. He also picked up a few souvenirs. He even came home with some money left over [although I'm sure he's spent that by now].
I’m really glad he got that opportunity to travel and see the world. I’m also glad he got his first taste of being on his own. Even though I was in my over-protective mom panic for three days straight, I’m happy he got to experience this. And it was my first test as letting go. Maybe, with all these trial runs, I’ll actually handle it well when the kids leave the nest. Ok, maybe not well, but if I can keep the blubbering to a minimum I’ll consider that a victory.
We leave tonight to spend Easter in Chicago. I’m pretty excited. I’ve only been to Chicago twice in my lifetime [which seems odd since we aren't that far away from Chicago]. The first time, Lee and I went for the day for my friend’s wedding. The second time I went on a business trip. This time we are going with no real agenda. So that will be fun. We’ll be able to take in the sights. I want to see the aquarium. We can do anything else the kids want to do as long as they let me enjoy the sharks.
So if I don’t talk to you before then, have a wonderful Easter. And if you don’t celebrate Easter, then just have a good weekend.
