I’m the King of the World

I’m so happy that summer is finally here. Even though the calendar hasn’t made it official yet I know summer is here because the weather is finally in the 80s. We can finally open our windows and not freeze to death. We are finally thinking about turning on the air. [Ok, so I could do without the electric bill from the air conditioner, but....] Finally we don’t have to be cooped up with our television, computers and video games. Not that there’s anything particularly wrong with televisions, computers and video games. But it’s so nice to be outside again. The smell of sun tan lotion is in the air.

Lee has been searching high and low for a bike trailer so he can take Caleb out on his bike. He searched bike shops and Wal-Mart and specialty stores on the internet. Do you have any idea how expensive these bike trailers are? VERY!

But, finally, Lee found one on eBay. Isn’t eBay wonderful? The girl only used the bike trailer about two times and then her bike was stolen. So she had a trailer but no bike. And Lee was ready to snap that opportunity up.

The trailer came today. And you can tell by the wheels that it has barely been used. It’s practically brand new. Lee got a helluva deal.

Lee & Caleb getting ready for a bike ride

You know men. They can’t get a new toy and not try it out immediately. The second the mailman dropped the box off, Lee was putting it together and attaching it to his bike. After Caleb finished eating they took it for a spin.

Lee & Caleb taking off on their bike ride

Lee rode up to the top of the hill and then he asked Caleb, “Are you ready?” Caleb said, “Yes” And then Lee took off down the hill. I could hear Caleb hollering, “I’m going on a bike ride” much like Leonardo DiCaprio saying “I’m the king of the world” in Titanic. It was hilarious.

When they returned twenty-five minutes later I asked Caleb if he had fun. “YEP,” he said. Lee said they are going to go on a bike ride every day. So it sounds like the bike trailer is a huge success.
