Thursday Thirteen #7: Fourth of July

I totally forgot about last Thursday’s T13. In fact I totally forgot last Thursday was Thursday. What can I say? It was a hectic week. And I’m a huge slacker. So here is my list a week late.
1. The anticipation of all the traditional family activies we have planned. This holiday has really turned in to a week of celebration for us. Not only are we celebrating our country’s birthday, but we are celebrating our family’s closeness.
4. Our family picnic in honor of my grandmother on my dad’s side of the family.
5. Buying the kids red, white and blue clothes to wear.
6. And admiring how cute they look all dressed alike. [At least until after dinner when they have food all down the front of them.]
7. Letting the kids get crazy with red, white and blue face paint and hair gel.
9. The pancake breakfast. YUMMY!
10. Celebrating my cousin Ben’s birthday [seventeen this year] with a BBQ dinner and ice cream cake with my mom’s side of the family.
11. Hanging out down by the river with family and friends as we wait for it to get dark.
12. Watching the fireworks. And watching the amazement on the kids’ faces as they watch the fireworks.
13. Tucking my exhausted, happy kids in to bed late at night after a great day of exciting events.
The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It’s easy, and fun! Be sure to update your Thirteen with links that are left for you, as well! I will link to everyone who participates and leaves a link to their 13 things. Trackbacks, pings, comment links accepted!
