Thursday Thirteen #8: Books

Banner courtesy of Yellow Roses Garden
I have a ton of books stacked up in a pile patiently waiting for me to read them. But school keeps getting in the way of my personal reading time. Only two more weeks of school though and then I’m going to pile through this stack.
1. Marketing by Roger A. Kerin, Steven W. Hartley, Eric N. Berkowitz, and William Rudelius. Ok, I’m not reading this by choice. This is my textbook for my Marketing class.
2. Let My People Go Surfing by Yvon Chouinard. Another book I’m required to read for school. But this book is a little more entertaining. It’s refreshing to read a book written by a CEO who really cares about his company, the companies impact on society and the employees.
3. Yes, You’re Teen is Crazy by Micheal J. Bradley. Yes, I’ve been reading this book for months. It’s not that it’s a boring book. It’s just that I can’t find time to read. In fact it’s a very good book. But I’m too tired by the time I make it up to bed. And during the day I feel quilty if I try to read for pleasure when I know I have homework to work on.
4. Raising Your Spirited Child: A Guide for Parents Whose Child Is More Intense, Sensitive, Perceptive, Persistent, Energetic by Mary Sheedy Kurcinka.
5. The Confident Child by Terri Apter, PH.D.
6. It’s a Boy: Women Writers on Raising Sons by Andrea J. Buchanan (Editor)
7. It’s a Girl: Women Writers on Raising Daughters by Andrea J. Buchanan (Editor)
8. Web Standard Solutions: The Markup and Style Handbook by Dan Cederholm.
9. The Zen of CSS Design: Visual Enlightenment for the Web by Dave Shea and Molly E. Holzschlag. Yep, I’m a nerd.
10. Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire.
11. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. My grandma gave this to me to read.
12. The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom. Another one my grandma gave me.
13. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.

I need #4 and 7…wasn’t #12 a TV movie? I need to read it too. Empathize on the school reading getting in the way, btdt…I just created a reading list for the spring after graduation. I’ve been busy!
I’m trying to read Wicked also. I don’t know why… I just can’t get into it. This is my second attempt. Perhaps it’s because of my deep love for The Wizard of Oz. Hmm…
My 13 are up…
I’ve read #8 #9 & #12. I’ve heard really good things about The Kite Runner.
I am an avid reader but I have not read one single book on your list…
I will have to check some of them out.. I like some of the titles.
My TT is up
Wicked was really hard for me to get into, too. I have also read The Kite Runner — wow. No one warned me before I read it — that was a tough one, but an excellent book. Will check out some of your other summer readings.
My Thursday Thirteen is up.
Sounds like a busy summer. Lots of reading. I feel like a sloth.

P.S. - I’m taking a break this week, but stop by and say hello anyway as my blog nears 100,000 visits. Maybe you’ll be the lucky winner?
Curious to know how the #12 one is….I love to read too.
that’s some deep reading on that list.
Great list, I’ll have to add some of those to my reading list.
I hope you enjoy The Kite Runner — I read it earlier this year and LOVED it.

I read a lot, but alas, I’ve only read one on your list, the Five People you Meet in Heaven. Really good book, and a fairly quick read as well. I have been thinking about trying to read The Kite Runner… Hope you get a chance to read all of these at some point!
Have a wonderful day, and thanks for stopping by my T13!
Thanks for stopping by my list today! It sounds like you have a good list of books to read. I’d be all about #9 because I, too, am a total nerd
I’ve also heard good things about #12.
#11 is on my personal “to read” list. Both my husband and my father read #12, and they both loved it.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
This is the second time I heard about the Kite Runner and it was recommended. I should keep an eye for it. Great list of books to read. -Marge
I loved LOVED “The Five People You Meet In Heaven”! Couldn’t get into Wicked at all, which surprised me. Oh well!
Thanks for visiting!
#3 and #12. I think I need to run, not walk to get these. (Or click links now, as the case may be…)

You’ll have to post a review of those parenting books!
Thanks for stopping by my TT with your encouraging comment:)
I read #10, and I really enjoyed it. I started reading his other books, so far Mirror, Mirror is my favorite.
Thanks for stopping by, we’re still having tummy troubles…
Great List!!! I, too, am an avid reader :O)
