Thirteen Crazy Things I Do Because of OCD
I have some OCD tendancies. I have medicine for it, but honestly I’m not very good at remembering to take medicine daily. It’s not to the point where it interfers in my life that much. It’s just an annoyance. Although my friends and family get a kick out of making fun of me. All in good fun though.

1. I keep the volume on my TV on an even number.

2. And if I need to turn up the volume I move it up two bars so it’s still on an even number.

3. Of course, when I turn it down I turn it down in twos as well so it’s always on an even number.

4. I keep our thermostat on an even number. Our air is never set to 73 or 75. Always 74 or 76 or so forth.

5. When I put gas in my car, I always try to stop on an even dollar amount. I prefer to stop on an even number with no change [like $50.00], but I can live with $48.68 or something like that.

6. I will continue to pump gas until I get to an even number, even if that means some gas is spilling out.

7. And then when the gas spills out I worry that I’m going to catch on fire.

8. If I do stop on an odd number then I have to count in even numbers [1 - 2 - 3 - 4, 1 - 2 - 3 - 4, 1 - 2 - 3 - 4] until I feel better.

9. I go a little Sleeping with the Enemy on my cupboards…all labels facing forward, cream of chicken lined up in one row, cream of mushroom lined up in another, etc.

10. All of our shampoo in the shower is lined up with labels facing the same direction. [We have my shampoo and conditioner, Keaton's shampoo and the little kids Suave.]

11. Everything on my desk has a place and I KNOW if you move it. My co-workers enjoy screwing with me by moving my pictures or my phone. Bastards. :)

12. All of my pictures line up from oldest to youngest child; Justis, Keaton, Skyler, Spencer & Caleb.

13. I hang up my clothes by color and style. My dress clothes are on one side. My sweatshirts are all together. Then sweaters. Followed by long sleeve shirts, short sleeve shirts and sleeveless shirts. And each section goes from dark to light.

    I feel your pain. I’ve never been dx w/OCD but I swear I have some tendencies. I have to have all closet doors closed when I go to bed, and the dishwasher has to be loaded a certain way or I flip out. :) Happy TT

    I have to step on the same number of cracks in the sidewalk or asphalt with my right foot as I do with my left foot. :)

    Maybe we all have something we are like that about…I’m a little like the pumping gas thing, like to end on an even amount! And it’s not nice if they move your stuff around just to mess with you! Have a good day.

    I like to have all of my clothes hung up by rainbow color, and then have the pants all on one end. My wife likes to put them wherever’s convenient– so I end up spending a lot of time finding a clean pair of pants!

    wow, I never realized just how anal I am until I read this! I’m exactly the same about the gas pumps and the clothing. Wierd.

    hahaha i was going to say, man, you’d be easy to mess with! Funny the OCD doesn’t affect your pill taking, i.e., remembering to do so!

    You sound perfectly normal to me. I do all of those things.. ‘cept for the gas thing ’cause I don’t drive.. but everything in the pantry is not only in rows, english lable side out, but it’s alphabetized… and has a specific shelf. Also, I eat foods in certain orders, M&M’s are always eaten by the same colours (first red, then blue, then green, then yellow, then orange, then brown), I count everything from stairway railings to sidewalk cracks to tiles, and yesterday, my husband made fun of me ’cause he caught me straightening the shelves at the drugstore while waiting for a prescription.. and no, I don’t take anything for it. LOL

    I don’t know much about OCD although I had a friend once who did the hand washing thing. Sounds like you’re just ultra organized. And I am the complete opposite. I’m lucky to keep labels on my cans :-)

    My gas has to be in multiples of 25. I prefer even dollar amounts, but will force a couple of pennies in to get it to .25, .50 or .75.

    Wow. I must have OCD tendencies too. My cupboards look like that as well as my closet. But I don’t feel the need to count or anything. . . so maybe I’m just anal about organization.
