Put down the remote and back away from the TV

Earlier tonight I was watching TV when a commercial came on for Boniva. That is the “once a month medicine for Postmenopausal Osteoporosis.” The commercial starts out with Sally Fields saying something like “my friend told me she sets aside time once a week to take her osteoporosis medicine.” Can somebody please tell me why you have to set aside time to take a pill? It’s a pill. The longest part of the process is dragging your lazy ass off the couch to get a glass of water to make the pill go down. It’s about a 24 second process. Set aside time?!?

Plus, why is it better to take a pill once a month? Wouldn’t it be better to take it daily so you get in to the routine. What’s the trigger that reminds you take your pill that one day a month? Heck, half the time I don’t even know what day it is. There’s no way I’d remember “Oh today’s the 20th. Better take my osteoporosis pill.”

And it’s for postmenopausal women. These are not young women. I’m only 32 and I can’t remember to tell my husband the kids have dentist appointments. Imagine if I was responsible for taking a pill once a month. It’d never happen.

Since we’re on the subject of commercials, have you seen the commercial with all the scissors snapping around town. I believe it’s a credit card commercial. I’m not sure which credit card though. The commercial scares me so I never pay attention til the end. Who wants a bunch of scissors taking over the world snapping at your feet? How do they know they are cutting up a credit card and not your toes? Ouch!
