In Today’s News

Did I tell you that I’m participating in NaBloPoMo [National Blog Posting Month]? It’s an event created by Fussy that’s a take off of NaNoWriMo. Only in this challenge we are to post every single day in November. You know what that means, right? That means you are going to be reading all kinds of boring posts over here as I try to find something to write about. [I know, like boring posts are new around here.]

The principal at the high school is still alive. Yesterday was the day he was supposed to die. As far as I know there was no violence or any more threats on campus at all yesterday. It does little to ease my mind though. What about the next 100 plus days of school? These stupid kids don’t even think about the consequences of their actions or the fear they instill in everybody because they are mad or playing a practical joke or whatever. I hope they figure out who it was and prosecute them. I’ll keep you posted.

Did you know that on today’s date in 1913 the US introduced the national income tax? And it’s just been getting more and more expensive and the rules have been getting more and more complicated as the years go on.

And today in 1991, Magic Johnson announced he was HIV positive. Can you believe it was that long ago. It was all the news talked about for forever. And now fifteen years later we’ve virtually forgotten about it.

Also, fifteen years ago this week, a University of Iowa student shot and killed five people and seriously injured one before killing himself in a crazy rampage on campus. I remember this well, because I was a senior in high school and in just a few months I was going to be a University of Iowa student.
