Gobble Gobble

This has been a crafty weekend. It was a good weekend to find indoor activities because it was snowing [although it never stuck] and sleeting on Friday and then it’s been very cold both Saturday and Sunday. It’s a far cry from the 70 degree weather we had at the beginning of the week.

Between naps, I found some time to hang out with the kids. Spencer got Dr. Dreadful Freaky Food Lab for his birthday. It comes with stuff like watermelon muck and powdered brains. And you can make things like gummy worms and monsters and foaming brains. It’s really a lot of fun.

We started by making a gummy monster with blueberry and cherry muck. Only we didn’t make enough of the gummy stuff so it didn’t fill the whole mold. Instead we ended with a headless monster, which was just as cool and tasted just as good.

Then we made the foaming brains. We used bubble gum muck and powdered brains for that. It foamed up really cool, but it tasted very tart. We all tasted it and none of us were big fans. So that went down the sink.

We ended the night with monster skin. It was kind of like a fruit roll up. We used cherry muck for that and it tasted really good.

Today we decided to do Caleb’s homework. Each month at preschool they get a homework assignment. Last month it was to make a pumpkin. This month he’s supposed to make a turkey. So while the big boys [including Lee] went to go eat wings and watch football, the little kids and I made turkeys.

Skyler made a ballerina turkey. Caleb made a chef turkey. And Spencer made a pirate turkey. They did a great job.
