Dreaming of hot chocolate

Do you remember the wonderful artwork we had on the wall in our bedroom and the multi-colored [read stained] carpet we used to walk on with bare feet. Yeah, I’m trying to forget it too. And now I can.

The final room of our three room carpet redo project is complete. That would be the master bedroom for those of you not playing along at home.

Back in June, Lee got this wild hair up his butt to re-carpet all of the upstairs bedrooms. We started with Justis’ room which we finished in July. Then we moved on to Skyler & Caleb’s room which was done in August. And now [finally] our room is all done.

Don’t you love how I say “we” like I had anything to do with the renovations? I did paint most of Skyler & Caleb’s room [after Lee primed it], but that was about my only contribution. Lee did almost all of the painting and his friend installed the carpet for us. I wasn’t even home when most of this happened.

This morning I woke up and put my little toes on the new cushy carpet. The clean cushy carpet. I even took a couple of extra minutes to enjoy the threads on my toes.

Our new carpet and freshly painted walls

Then I walked in to the hallway and it was another whole new experience. I didn’t have to take a step up and try to balance like a gymnast on a big roll of carpet. No more tripping and falling on my face because I underestimated the distance of the carpet as I try to wake up in the morning. No more bumping Caleb’s head in to the wall as I try to balance and side-step down the roll while carrying Caleb to bed. I can actually just walk down the hallway like a normal person. Do you realize how exciting that is?

We went with hot chocolate carpet [at least I convinced Lee to let me have it in one room] and the walls are beige with a tinge of yellow. I can’t remember it’s official name. Lee says the color is just a different shade of the color in Sklyer & Caleb’s room, but I think they are totally different. Either way, I’m very happy with the room. Twice today I went up to sit on the bed and admire my new room.

Now we just need to get some new bedding and dress up the walls. Lee wants to get a flat panel TV for the foot of the bed. I think he needs to lay off the crack and live in the real [read poor] world. But, just for shits and giggles, I decided to check out Best Buy to see how much these TVs are. I was thinking if it’s just a few hundred dollars for a small one then maybe we could swing it for a Christmas gift. I was shocked to discover these freaking TVs are like a thousand dollars. A thousand dollars for a TV in a bedroom. I’m sure all the guy readers are like “yeah, what’s your point?” But I’m pretty sure many of my female readers are with me on the “hell no.” We spend maybe eight hours in that room and for seven and a half of those hours our eyes are closed. So the old TV will have to do. But at least we can enjoy it with while dipping our toes in to new hot chocolate carpet. *wink*
