The dreaded New Year resolutions

Every year my New Year Resolutions are the same; eat healthier and exercise more. And every year I’m really good until around March and then I start parking my butt on the couch more and more with a bottle of Mt. Dew and some string cheese.

So I’ve decided New Year Resolutions are stupid. I can’t just make a resolution to exercise more. If my body knows it’s coming, it rebels. Exercise is something I need to trick myself in to. So that’s out.

I know I need to drink more water and less caffeine. But God wouldn’t have allowed them to make Mt. Dew so yummy if he didn’t me to drink it, right?

So this year I’m just going to make fun resolutions. Things I think I can actually do. That way I’ll get a warm and fuzzy at the end of 2007 when I realize I actually stuck to my new year resolutions.

Inspired by the fantastic shots Angela takes [I'm so jealous] I resolve to start a new relationship…with my camera. I’m planning to spend 2007 taking more photos and figuring out my camera.

I resolve to force my girlfriends to go out to dinner at least once this year. All of us. Together. On the same night. At the same restaurant. We can do it. It’s been a while since we laughed so hard margaritas flew out of our nose. And I’m really missing the nasty shots Camy likes to make for me just to see if I’ll throw up. Good times.

I’m going to make more cupcakes because you can never have too many. I’m quite a sucker for cupcakes [as long as they aren't chocolate.] Plus I could put my face on a cupcake. You just can’t beat that.

I’m going to pick up my pencil and work on some sketches. When I was a little girl my grandma instilled in me a love of art. In the last few years I’ve kept all of my drawing supplies [and all the supplies I inherited from her when she passed away] in a box under my bookshelf. I’ve pulled it out, dusted off my pencils and papers and kneeded my eraser. I’m ready.

Since I’ve got my pencil out, I’m going to work a little more on my writing. I started a NaNo novel and then fizzled halfway through the month. So I plan to finish that up and see where it goes.

I also plan to laugh more. I plan to spend more days in my pajamas. I plan to spend some time playing in the snow [if it ever snows]. I plan to have another shaving creme party with the kids. And go swimming with my clothes on just because I can. I plan to read more [which means reading at all since my reading this year pretty much consisted of textbooks from school]. I plan to color with the kids or play Xbox with the boys [even though they beat me every time.] And speaking of Xbox, I plan to stay up late and find some game where I can actually beat Lee or at least have fun trying.

Basically I plan to spend 2007 stress-free. Or at least stress-less.

What are your 2007 new year resolutions?
