We finally have snow
The first snow of the year. It’s not a lot. But it’s some. And that’s a start.
I got the kids in their snowsuits and boots and gloves and hats and coats. Four hours later they were ready to go outside. [Ok, so maybe it wasn't 4 hours, but it does take forever to get three kids ready to venture outdoors in the winter.]
They started their first day of snow play by shoveling the walk. Can you believe shoveling the walk is playing? Don’t tell them it’s actually work or they’ll never do it again.
Then they made some snow angels. We just have a thin layer of snow so the snow angels didn’t turn out very well. The blades of grass are still peeking out, so it hides the wonderful snow angels the kids made. But they tried over and over again until they got it just right.
Just as they were starting to get a little bored and thinking about going inside, Lee pulled out the sled. We live on a hill. It sucks when we’re walking home from the park in the summer, but it’s nice in the winter when we want to go sledding. The kids started two houses up and then sled all the way down to almost the end of the street [which is like six houses or so]. So they went a long way. They had a blast.
I can’t wait for it to snow more. I want enough snow to make snow angels we can see when we get up. Enough snow so we can make snowballs that stay together until they hit their target. Enough snow so we can attempt a lopsided snowman. I guess I’ll just have to be a little more patient.

The kids have been enjoying the snow out here. In a rare occurrence, the snowfall we got four days ago has managed to stick around. We even had a snowball fight today. Good times.
Enjoy the white stuff!
