We went to the pumpkin patch and all we got was dirty

On Saturday we took the kids to the pumpkin patch. Not just any pumpkin patch, but a big ol’ pumpkin patch with tons of activities. We started in haunted barn. Made our way through the tire maze. The kids buried themselves in field corn. Then they went down the big slide. And that was just the first half hour.

Finally we made it over to the petting zoo. Unlike the pumpkin patch we went to for Caleb’s field trip, we actually got to pet these animals. And we got to feed them. There were tons of goats and llamas and pigs, oh my. There was a cow and rabbits and chickens and peacocks too.

They also had these big bikes the kids got to race in. Last year we had to push Caleb around the track. But he must have grown quite a bit in the last year because he didn’t have any trouble reaching the pedals this year. In fact he was zooming around that track like a pro.

Then we got lost in the corn maze. Most people got a blank map and you have to find pieces of the map in mailboxes spread throughout the maze. But not us. We got a full map. And we still got lost. You know how they say men refuse to ask for directions? Well in this case Lee was our savior. I’m pretty sure we would still be lost in the middle of that maze if it was left up to me. Even with the map I was totally lost.

When we finally made it out of the maze we realized how late it was. I had dinner plans with friends and we had to get back home. So we drove all the way out to the pumpkin patch and didn’t actually have time to actually go in to the field to pick pumpkins. We came home from out trip to the pumpkin patch without any pumpkins.

But we did get a picture of the kids on an enormous pumpkin.

I guess we’ll just have to get our pumpkins from the supermarket.
