I might love it even more than I love my kids*
If there was any doubt about how much I love my laptop [although how could there be?] I put those thoughts to rest tonight.
Next week is finals week for me. In my Direct Marketing class we aren’t having a final. Instead we are giving presentations over the project we’ve been working on all semester. We needed to bring our laptops to school so we could use Powerpoint and get our presentations in order.
I seriously considered leaving it behind and just hoping one of my teammates brought their laptop because I was worried about taking it out in the big bad world. But I gave in. I have to stop being such an overprotective laptop mama and let it enjoy the outdoors. So I carefully packed up my laptop and put it in my backpack.
We had a bad ice store on Saturday. Pretty much the whole down closed down and we all huddled under blankets in front of our TVs. Luckily we didn’t lose power like we have in the past.
Today, even two days later, the roads are still pretty icy. In fact on my way to work this morning I slid right in to an intersection. It was as if my car had no brakes. Luckily I was the only car in the intersection.
So I was pretty hesitant to take my laptop for a ride today. The whole way to school I kept worry about getting in to an accident. Not because I might get hurt. Or my car might get wrecked. But because my laptop might get hurt.
Now that’s some serious laptop dedication.
*I hope I don’t need to include this disclaimer, but here it is anyway — I’m totally kidding. Of course, I love my kids more than my laptop. Well almost at least. ![]()

I just got my new MacBook Pro two days ago. I love it too! Way more than I should I fear.
Hey, I love my Gateway more than my kids. And my kids know it!! It is four and a half years old and showing its age but I drag it EVERYWHERE with me. LOVE IT.
They are replacing it with a brand new Gateway at work in a few weeks. I’m already suffering from the grief of loss…
Ummm, I think we have learned the hard way what happens when you AREN’T an overprotective laptop mama.

You are not alone. I am pretty protective of ‘my girl’ as well.
