One more reason I love my husband
Yesterday was Lee’s turn with the big bad stomach flu. Dontcha just love it when a man gets sick? When the kids were sick I hardly heard from them. They laid in bed, hugging their puke buckets and the only time they spoke to me was when I went in to check on them.
Lee, on the other hand, was very verbal about his illness.
He laid on the couch and moaned. A very dramatic, Oscar award winning moan as he flipped from his left side to this right side every 15 minutes or so.
Then there was the “If I don’t make it, let them know I ate the cookies at school. It’s the only thing I ate that nobody else ate. I think I was poisoned.”
Yeah, underneath all that rough macho-ness is a total drama queen.
Lee had class from 8am until 4pm. Apparently his flu symptoms came on somewhere around the noon hour. But he had to stay for class so he just worked around them. The kids had their Christmas program today and I needed to get them all white turtlenecks. Of course, Lee was in no mood to go to the store. But I cannot go to the store by myself…especially during the holiday season when the stores are packed.
Of course, I made him go to the store with me. But I compromised. I let him throw up at home before we headed out to the store. See what a nice and caring wife I am?
Since we were there, I decided to get all of our stocking stuffers too so I don’t ever have to go to the store again until after Christmas. As you might imagine, Lee was less than thrilled with this plan. He just wanted to get in, get three white turtlenecks and get back home to the comforts of our own vinyl floor and porcelain toilet.
We were at the store for about 45 minutes. Lee went to the restroom to throw up at least four times. That’s how much Lee loves me. He loves me so much he will accompany my crazy ass to the store even when his stomach is turning cartwheels. That’s true love people. He’s a keeper.

That IS true love. I can’t imagine my husband doing that - and I can’t imagine doing it for him! I read the post you linked to about your OCD and wondered if you have made any progess on seeing a doctor about that. It might be nice to shop somewhere other than Target! As annoying as Wal-Mart can be (you are right about some of the people that shop there), it is nice to have that option. Or even to have the volume control on an odd number! I have a slight tendency towards OCD myself, such as having to get both hands wet if I get one wet or tapping with one finger the exact same number of times as I have tapped with the finger on another hand. Maybe everyone has a slight tendency, I don’t know. Keep us updated on this topic. Your faithful readers are interested!
Wow. He IS a keeper!
I admit to being miserable when I have the flu. Yep, award winning, miserable.
Knocking on wood that we stay healthy this winter…!
Just found your blog today, btw!
You are a stinker.. He really is a keeper.
PS> My hubby is much worse than my boys when he is sick. You would think that the world was coming to an end when he gets a cold. It is terrbile.
