Adding a little texture to our lives

It’s been a really busy day. There is a Law & Order: SVU marathon on the USA network and I’ve had my butt parked on the couch watching every episode. Clearly I need to get a life.

We have been doing something productive though. And by “we” I mean mostly Lee.

We decided to let Keaton pick the wall color for his room. Lee drywalled the room years ago, but we never got around to actually painting it. There was some spectacular artwork the kids did a few years back when they were toddlers. Artwork they did with permanent marker. Permanent marker that keeps seeping through the primer. Not that I’m bitter or anything.

Keaton wanted to paint his room green. Lee brought home a few color samples for Keaton to choose from. He chose jalapeño green. It’s kind of a dark olive green. I was a little worried about it being too dark, but now that it’s up it looks really nice. And it’s a big room so the dark walls don’t make it look too small.

To make sure it didn’t get too dark we decided to paint two walls jalapeño and the two other walls a light beige. Everybody helped paint. Even Caleb.

We finished the jalapeño walls yesterday. And started the beige walls today. I sprayed the texture on the walls. I’m pretty sure this will be the last time Lee will ever allow me to handle a can of texture ever again in my life.

I got a little carried away with the texture. Instead of just texturing the wall, I got one of the dressers, Lee’s poker table, Spencer’s keyboard plus the sheets on his bed and a little on a few articles of clothing hanging in their closet. Apparently I’m a maniac with the texture.

I guess a career in house painting is out of the question.

  1. Oh, I’m a terribly messy painter. But I am a tremendous SVU marathon-watcher.
I wish Stabler and Benson would just get together already…
