Just because you call yourself a church doesn’t make it true

I was completely disgusted to hear that a “church” (and I use that term loosely) wants to protest outside Heath Ledger’s funeral. This congregational has also picketed outside fallen soldier’s funerals and even funerals of little girls who died in a bus accident. They have children hold signs with hate speech on them. All because they want to get their message out that God hates gay people. That America is full of sin.

Even if I believed in what this “church” was preaching (which I absolutely do not) I would be completely embarrassed by their tactics. What kind of a person protests outside of a funeral? A person who wants to use somebody else’s fame to spread their hate. Somebody who doesn’t have the confidence in themselves to get their message out respectfully, but instead relies on controversy to get their name in the paper in hopes of getting new members.

It infuriates me when people hide behind God and the First Amendment to spout hate and insanity. This “pastor” and his congregation should be ashamed of themselves. He is not speaking for God. This “pastor” is a lunatic.

It annoys the crap out of me beacuse if you look at their methods… it is so against what Christ’s message actually was to the world… acceptance and love.

I hate groups like this. How awful. I think Joel McHale from The Soup said it best. “Leave Him a alone. He was a decent human being who lost his life too soon.”

That is disgusting, that they would do that. I remember hearing about them before. Not cool in any way.

I couldn’t agree with you more. Things like that make it hard for me to trust some “churches”.

I just read somewhere (Ms. Magazine?) that the pastor of this church has been sued for $10 million by the father of one of the soldiers whose funeral he protested. I think I’d be happy to get that jury summons.
