This morning I was on the phone with the mom of Spencer’s best friend making plans for a sleepover at our house this evening. The mom said, “I think Spencer and Reece are really good for each other, don’t you think?” And I said, “Yeah, they’ve been friends since kindergarten and they are very close.”

She then went on to tell me that Reece is a pretty sensitive kid and Spencer came to Reece’s aid one day. Apparently another boy in their class was making fun of Reece and Spencer stood up to him. Reece came home that night and told his mom all about it.

I was shocked. Spencer, too, is a very sensitive kid. His feelings are easily hurt so I was shocked that he stood up for his friend. I guess friendship gives you the courage to stand up to bullies and show how brave you truly are.
