Mental Note: Scrub shower every morning

Last night I was helping Caleb shower. I’ve been trying to teach him to wash his own hair and body. I figure he’s five-years-old now and in school, it’s time for the kid to learn to do these things on his own. I don’t want him coming over to my house when he’s 25 so I can wash behind his ears (assuming he’s moved out by the time he’s 25).

So I was standing there giving him directions. Things like, “Get your hair wet. Good job. Now put a little bit of shampoo in your hand. Rub in to your hair. Don’t forget the sides. Way to go!” And of course, “Don’t forget to wash your butt.”

Just as he was getting ready to cover his body with soap, he looked up at me with a very serious look on his face and said through clenched teeth, “I gotta go potty.” I pulled the shower curtain back and told him to hop out and go ahead and go.

Once he was done he jumped back in the shower. He looked at me and said, “You know, when you aren’t here I just go right here.” Meaning he pees in the shower.

TMI! (Too Much Information!)

  1. lol - that’s funny! Have you seen that video on YouTube where first the girl takes a shower all nice and cleans up and then the boy takes a shower and leaves it all dirty (including peeing in the shower). It is so funny! I should find it and link to it on my site…

My stepdaughter is 8 and still loves her baths, though she does occasionally take showers. She never manages to get her hair clean, so I always end up doing it for her. More for my own sake than anything else.

  3. Hilarious! Sean, who is also 5, now nolonger wants me in the bathroom at all. He says he needs his privacy… I think he just doesn’t want me to see him playing with the shampoo!
