The things we do for our kids…like stay up until 3am to hide Easter eggs

Today has been a very exhausting day. Since the kids are on Spring Break, I’ve been on vacation all week. But I have to say it hasn’t exactly been relaxing. We’ve been busy every day. We went to a movie and dinner one day. The next we went to a place called Enchanted Castle which is basically like Chuck E. Cheese for older kids. And today we did more shopping then I care to ever do again.

But I did get to go to Whole Foods today. For the very first time. I was like a kid waiting to go to the candy store. “Are we going to Whole Foods yet?” See we don’t have a Whole Foods in my neck of the woods. We have Target, Wal-Mart and Hy-Vee. And although I haven’t been to the new Hy-Vee near me yet, I don’t think any of our Hy-Vee’s even have that big organic section that they have in other cities. Apparently nobody cares about healthy food where I live. We’re all just a bunch of potato chip and pesticide eatin’ fools.

So, anyway, Whole Foods. It was everything I imagined and more. As soon as we walked through the automatic doors the angels began to sing. I almost cried and/or peed my pants I was so excited. I got some asparagus and apples and grapes. I stocked up on cleaning supplies. I got some Aura Cacia lavender oil. I grabbed some organic sugar and three dozen eggs from vegetarian chickens. It was so awesome I didn’t want to leave.

But we did. And when we got back to my mom’s house we boiled our eggs from vegetarian chickens for Easter egg dyeing.

Clearly we need to work on Caleb’s creativity. He colored every one of his eggs blue.

Skyler was obviously excited about the eyes and mouth stickers we had for the eggs.

Justis made an egg that looked just like him…it even has his teenage acne.

Then we all sat down to make the Easter cookies I mentioned in last week’s Sunday Linky Love.

My mom doesn’t have a mixer so we tried to whip it in to peaks with a wire whisk, only a whisk takes forever and we finally gave up. So I’m guessing our cookies won’t turn out very well, but I think the kids are enjoying the bible lesson.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, it’s after 2am and I still have Easter eggs to hide. Umm…I mean the Easter Bunny has eggs to hide. Happy Easter everybody!
