Cat fights at the soccer game
It’s officially Spring. How do I know? Because soccer season has begun. With three boys in soccer and none of them on the same team we spend a great deal of time on the sidelines at soccer games during April and May.
It’s interesting to watch the parents at these games. Somebof them take it so seriously. Especially at Keaton’s games. I just want to stand up and say “Get over yourself. They are thirteen-years-old. There are no scouts here.” But today I was too sick to start trouble. (Who knew one person could produce so much snot?)
The ref at today’s game was kind of an ass. He kept making the stupist calls. Especially against our team. For example, he blew his little whistle and said one of our players had his back foot off the ground when he threw the ball in. Normally that would be a good call, but that ref was clear across the field and the ref that was right by our kid did not make the call. Clearly that ref has some control issues. His wife probably wears the pants in their family and he gets his frustrations out on the soccer field.
But they are still just thirteen-year-old kids. And life isn’t always fair. The kids seemed to handle it pretty well. I can’t say the same for the parents.
After another bogus call, a mother (on our team I’m embarrassed to say) started yelling at the ref asking him what the kid did wrong. A guy standing behind her tried to explain the call. However this guy was a parent from the other team. She cut him off and with her snottiest voice said, “We know how to play soccer.” He stopped talking and just went back to watching the game. But this crazy lady wasn’t done. After a minute she snapped, “Why are you even over here? Why don’t you move down there with the rest of your team?”
Seriously?!? What are we? Five-years-old? We can’t share space with the other team? Heck it was an away game and we were sitting on their field. How do we expect our kids to play fair and be good sports if we can’t even be respectful on the sidelines?

You had me scared at the beginning of this post. Drew and Spencer played against each other Tuesday night … and Big Daddy was armed with his little whistle. LOL!
In mid game I was leaving with the girls and saw you in the parking lot, but I was wrestling the wind for my car door and yelling at my kids to GET IN THE CAR, I don’t think you saw me.

She wasn’t short and pudgy with brownish/red hair was she? I know a certain soccer mom who also happens to be a baseball mom who thinks her son can do no wrong and everyone else’s son’s abilities pale in comparison to her son’s. Just made me think of her.
