Dirty duck
Lee usually goes through the kids’ school bags each morning. He pulls out their papers and puts them on my desk so I can look at them when I get up. As a kindergartener Caleb is learning by repetition and rhyming. He often brings home little “homework” assignments to work on new words. Today he brought home this:

It looked simple enough. He is supposed to use the cut-out letters to make a word. There is click. Sick. Chick. Kick. Lick. Brick. Dick.
What?!? DICK? What the hell are they teaching my kindergartener?
It literally took me a good five minutes (have I mentioned I’m not a morning person) to realize I had the “d” upside down. It’s supposed to be a “p” for “Pick.”

Whew! That’s a much safer word.

That is hilarious.
Well, hmmm, there’s also the name Dick…. (and yes, I know several)….

When I saw the title, “Dirty Duck” I thought you were going to say that the teachers wanted the kids to come up with words that rhyme with “duck”. Hmmmm. What’s dirty that rhymes with duck? I’ll have to think about that one for a while…..
Oh, how hilarious! I would have thought the same!
i literally LOL’d!!!

OMG> That is hilarious. On a side note. Does Caleb bring home a ton of homework? Sean brings home 5-6 pages of homework a week. I appreciate how smart they want him to be, it just seems like a lot to me.

Well thank the good Lord you’re a more patient soul than me. I would have probably called the teacher, gotten voicemail, left some ridiculous panicked message about the moral values slipping across America, particularly in our schools, and demanded a meeting with the principal. Only then would I have actually figured out it was a “P”.
