What’d you do at work today? Nothing.

Keaton had freshman orientation today. It was almost like a full day of school. Lucky him. He got to go to school one day early. I can’t tell you how thrilled he was by that.

At Parent Night last night, the associate principal told us they do basically a full day of orientation so the freshman can have the whole school to themselves to get acquainted with teachers and staff and explore the halls. We were told they would meet their mentors (juniors who volunteered to help out the freshman), find their lockers and work their combinations, go to each of their classes to meet their teachers and eat lunch in the cafeteria. So I knew it would be a big day for Keaton.

When Keaton got home just after 2pm I was practically leaping out of my desk chair to find out how it went. I said, “So what did you do?”

“Nothing.”

Here I thought he would be excited about starting high school. But all I got was the standard kid response. Nothing.

Kids!
