Drag Queens and Memes

Skyler and I are watching a Project Runway marathon. For this challenge they are making dresses for drag queens. This, of course, brought on a very interesting conversation where I had to explain what a drag queen is to Skyler. I told her they are guys dressed up like girls for entertainment. Kind of like actors. She seemed satisfied with that answer.

I used the extent of my Saturday brain power on that conversation so today’s post is going to be a total rip-off of a meme. Enjoy.

Have you ever…

1. gone on a blind date? No, but my first date with Lee was close. We were introduced by mutual friends. My friend, Joy, was dating Lee’s friend, Andre. For our first date, Joy and Andre invited us over to Andre’s house where we grilled, played cards and even jumped in the hot tub.

2. skipped school? Oh heck yes. I still occasionally skip school. But don’t tell.

3. watched someone die? I’ve never seen anybody take their last breath, but I have been there when a few of my loved ones were in their last days. It’s devastating.

4. been on a plane? A lot. At least twice a year between the age of 8 and 18, visiting my mom for summer vacation and spring break.

5. been on the opposite side of your country? Well, since I live in the Midwest what’s considered the other side of the country? However, I’ve been to California, New York, New Jersey and Florida so I guess the answer is yes.

6. swam in the ocean? Yep, on both coasts plus in the Bahamas and Cancun.

7. had your booze taken away by the cops? Sort of. One time in high school, a friend and I were walking back to the car to sneak a drink from our booze stashed in the trunk. However, on our way there we saw our two other friends. At the car. With the cops. My friend and I turned around and got a ride with somebody else. Cause we’re good friends like that. So the cops took our booze that night. And our friends had to call their parents and both got a ticket. But we didn’t get in trouble.

8. lettered in high school sport? Heck no. I didn’t even participate in a sport in high school. As I’ve said before, I’m sports-challenged.

9. cried yourself to sleep? Yes, several times.

10. played cops and robbers? I don’t think so.

11. sung karaoke? Never by myself, but I have been dragged to a microphone with a group of people on more than one occasion. And I was none to happy about it any of those times.

12. paid for a meal with coins only? Oh yeah. Tons of times when I was in high school. Paid for gas with all coins too back then.

13. done something you told yourself you wouldn’t? Um..yes. And we’ll just leave it at that.

14. cheated on an exam? I probably have at some point in my life, but I don’t remember. I’m strongly against it though.

15. made prank phone calls? Probably, but again I don’t remember. I have definitely called boys that I liked and hung up when they answered. Because I was a total chicken shit like that.

16. laughed until some sort of beverage came out of your nose? No. That sounds painful.

17. caught a snowflake on your tongue? Yepper.

18. written a letter to Santa Claus? Sure have. Then when I was in junior high we helped Santa out by being temporary elves and responding to some Santa letters from kids. And now I help my kids write letters to Santa.

19. watched the sunrise with someone you care about? Nope. Sunrises happen way too early in the morning for me.

20. been kissed under the mistletoe? Yep. I would purposely stand under the mistletoe at my grandma’s house until somebody would kiss me.

21. ever been arrested? Umm…yes. For shoplifting in high school. And for throwing ripped up paper at a guy. Yep, I’m hardcore.

22. gone ice skating? Yep, but not for a long time. I must have been in junior high because it was when my mom lived in California.

23. been skinny dipping outdoors? Neither indoors or outdoors. I’m way too modest for that.

24. had a nickname? Well duh. In high school we came up with nicknames for everybody. Mine was Bean. Hence The Bean Blog.

25. been on TV? Not that I know of.
