The Gall
For those of you who I haven’t told yet, my mom has (or rather had) some gall stones. She was having some stomach pains on Christmas day, but didn’t go to the doctor because it was Christmas. Then the next day she was having some dizzy spells. So Grandma O ended up taking her to the emergency room. And they were there for hours running all kinds of tests. Turns out mom had some stones in her gall bladder. So they scheduled surgery for today.
Everything went really well. She went in to surgery early (around 9:15 and she was scheduled for 9:30). When I got there at 9:35 they had already called Grandma and Candy back so the doctor could talk to them. They were concerned that something was wrong because it had only been 20 minutes. But apparently 20 minutes is all the doctor needed. He came to the room to tell us that everything went really well.
After about an hour we went back to post-op to see mom. She looked a little drugged up (as was expected), but she recovered quickly. After about an hour and a half they got her to sit up in a chair and she said other then a little bit of dizziness she felt pretty good. So they let her go to the bathroom, get dressed and go home. They wheeled her out in a wheelchair because it was kind of a long walk to the car, but she was feeling well enough to walk.
So she’s doing great. Now she just needs to take it easy this week so she can fully recover. A good excuse for loafing and tv watching.
